On the serious side, there's a UFO society headquartered in S.D.
They've got a retired PhD running it, and I heard him interviewed on TV.
His considered opinion is that the cult suicides were uncalled for
because anyone know that only live people get taken up to alien
spaceships! He meant it!
It's really incredible that 39 people would
dress themselves identically and commit suicide simultaneously. I can't
get four friends to agree on a restaurant!
The reason for the initial confusion about what happened
outside San Diego was because the cops didn't size it up right
immediately. They thought they'd walked in on a frat party gone haywire
with bad booze!
I've got the answer. The suicides destroyed the property
value of that mansion, and O.J. is out of money and about to lose his
home. Simpson could get the place cheap, and it would be perfect for
him: everyone there has already been killed. And, he'd save on shoes,
caps, and gloves!
A lot of people think it was insensitive of Ted Turner
to make the comment about what happened in San Diego as "a good way to
get rid of a bunch of nuts." I should clarify that he was talking about
the suicides, not the castrations.
