December 1999 Concert
This was a great concert held for 40,000 people on December 29, 1999 at Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida. The opening acts were Sevendust, Kid Rock, and Creed. Sevendust was fairly good but only played a 40 minute set. They also didn't play many of their good songs. Kid Rock was a good performer, but I didn't like his music - too much like rap. He also has won song ("Know one Knows"?) that sounds supiciously like Pearl Jam's "Yellow Ledbedder." Creed had good music but they weren't very good performers. However, women seemed to enjoy it a lot and it wasn't too bad (it could have been a lot better).
Metallica was great. They played for 2 hours. During the other acts, a lot of people were sitting, but during Metallica, every one was on their feet. There were a lot of pyrotechnics but the stage was not as intricate as the last show I went to. They still ran around a lot, though. Every now and then, one of them would do a solo. They played "No Leaf Clover" without an orchestra, which was really good. The also played "Phantom Lord" and "Bleeding Me," which was somewhat unusual.
