With printers, you have two types that you can buy: inkjet or laser. Both kinds can come as color printers. Laser printers are much more expensive than inkjets, however, they are much higher quality, especially when it comes to images. Inkjets will have one cartridge that contains red, green, and blue ink and another cartridge that contains black ink. Laser printers user a toner cartridge to print; laser printers come as either black & white or color. As long as you're going to buy a printer, you should get a color printer. For normal home use you are better off getting a color inkjet. Because of the price, only professionals that need a color laser printer should buy one.

Photograph Printers
These are special printers that pint standard size 3.5" x 5" photographs. It uses special paper (like what you get photo's on) and is good for use with digital cameras. These printers are harder to find for Mac than for PC. I will post one when I find it.
