Speed Upgrades

There are two things that can make your computer go faster. By adding memory, you can increase the performance of many programs. You can also replace your old processor with a new one. This is only practical if you already own a PowerMac. You should check the product specs to make sure that the processor will work in your computer. Remember one thing about G3 processors: the size of the L2 cache is almost as important as the processor speed. Having a larger L2 cache always your processor to receive info quicker thus making you computer run faster. This means that a 266 MHz processor with 1 MB of L2 cache might be a better investment than a 300 MHz processor with 512 KB of L2 cache. After purchasing one, you should have a pro install it.
