Making Maps using WolfEdit and ResEdit

Rather than posting a bunch of screen shots of levels, i'll show you how to make your own maps of the game's levels. As the title suggests, you will need to download WolfEdit and ResEdit.

The process is quite simple:

  1. Create a new map using WolfEdit and save it.
  2. Using ResEdit, open Wolfenstein 3D and then open up the "BRGR" resource.
  3. Next, highlight the map you want (the first map is usually id# 200) and chose "copy" from the edit menu.
  4. Close all the windows, chosing "Don't Save Changes" if it asks.
  5. Using ResEdit, open up the map you saved earlier and open the "BRGR" resource.
  6. Highlight id# 200 and chose "clear" from the edit menu.
  7. Chose "paste" from the edit menu to paste the map you copied earlier.
  8. Highlight this entry and choose "Get resource info" from the resource menu.
  9. Change the id# to 200.
  10. Close all the windows and choose "Save."
  11. You can now open the map in WolfEdit.
